We are thrilled to announce the installation of a brand-new composter right in front of the Municipality Building! This exciting development is part of our ongoing efforts to encourage sustainable living practices in our community, and we couldn’t be more excited to see how this will benefit local residents.
With this composter in place, we are providing a convenient and accessible way for people to contribute to reducing organic waste and turning it into valuable compost. Whether it’s food scraps, garden waste, or other compostable materials, this new composter is open for all to use, and we believe it will make a significant impact on how our town handles waste.
Getting Ready for the New School Year!
But that’s not all! On September 15th, when the new school year begins, we are preparing a special workshop on composting for the students. As part of our ongoing environmental education efforts, we want to ensure that the younger generation understands the importance of composting and how they can actively participate in making their community more eco-friendly.
During the workshop, we’ll guide the students through the basics of composting, explain what can and cannot be composted, and show them how to use the new composter. This workshop is just the beginning—by educating the youth, we’re planting the seeds for long-term sustainable habits that will benefit our entire region.
Our Thanks to Youth and Environment Europe (YEE)
We want to extend a huge thank you to Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) for their continued support in making all of this possible. Their contribution has allowed us to bring new initiatives like the composter and the upcoming workshops to life, empowering our community to take real action for the environment.
What’s Next?
This is just the start of our journey! With the school workshops coming up and more initiatives on the way, we are excited to keep expanding our efforts. As we move forward, we will continue to bring new opportunities for our community to get involved in eco-friendly practices, making Smolyan a leading example of sustainability.
This article is brought to you by our enthusiastic intern, Severim Bobachev, who has been deeply involved in every aspect of the project. His passion for environmental advocacy and dedication to this initiative has been inspiring to all of us.
Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t forget to stop by the Municipality Building and make use of the new composter!
